The arena mode is as great as ever with some high quality game modes ! This game still has the awesome stunts from the former games and even adds some really fun new ones but the only part that is kind of a bummer is you can only play stunts multiplayer locally, not online For instance the water canal map has a new city portion but the water part itself is a next gen copy of the water canal map in Flatout 2 but there are enough differences that the maps feel fresh overall. I am glad I did !Īs mentioned in another review some of the tracks use recycled portions of maps from the previous games.

I am a huge fan of the series but I had no Idea they were releasing a new one until a fellow fan messaged me about it and I pre ordered immediately. I have probably only played about 10 hours so far (all offline), but if you were a fan of the old Flatout games or a fan of fast-paced demolition-style arcade racing, I would definitely recommend Flatout 4. I know that some of the demolition tracks are recycled for sure, but there are new Arena maps for the survival derbies. I don't think they are exact copies of tracks from the previous game, but as you race along, a lot of the areas will seem like you've raced on them before. The only small issue I have is with the tracks: I haven't played Ultimate Carnage in years, but the tracks here seem very familiar.

I'm really hoping that the school/prison bus and "Flatmobile" are unlockable in this iteration. I wish you could more specifically customize your car's colors rather than just being able to pick from 5 pre-colored skins, however. You can customize your car with different skins, horns, and nitro exhaust appearances (most need to be unlocked). The graphics are excellent and I have had no performance issues (e.g. Sound design is great here too, hearing the sound of sheet metal scraping together when fighting other cars for position. One standout from Ultimate Carnage was the sound design: I loved hearing the gravel hit the inside of my wheel-wells when flying down dirt trails. Flatout Ultimate Carnage was one of my favorite 360 games, so I jumped on pre-ordering this title and I am not disappointed.
